São Paulo – The Brazilian cosmetic, fragrance and toiletry (CFT) industry keeps posting a growth in exports. From January to July 2022, shipments grossed USD 445.3 million, up 14% from a year ago, the Brazilian Cosmetic, Fragrance and Toiletry Association (ABIHPEC) reported on Friday (19).
In July, exports grossed USD 64.1 million, up 9.7% from a year earlier. Imports reached USD 60.6 million, up 9.4% year on year.
The top categories in exports were hair products at USD 16 million, followed by soaps at USD 8.8 million, and oral care products at USD 7.2 million. Leading imports were fragrances at USD 14.6 million, followed by skin creams, sunscreens, and tanning lotions at USD 13 million, and oral care products at USD 5.7 million.
“Despite the excellent results, it’s important that the Brazilian government pays attention to need for progresses in foreign trade policies that could come to reduce the impacts of high international logistics and raw material costs for the CFT industry, as well as activities to facilitate trade in the sense of improving the business environment,” ABIHPEC president João Carlos Basílio was quoted as saying in a statement.
