Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 0.9% in this year’s Q1 in comparison to the same period of last year. The data, taken from the GDP Monitor, was released this Monday (21) by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV).
The 0.9% expansion, however, was the lowest since 2017’s Q2 (0.4%), since in Q3 of that year the expansion reached 1.4% and, in Q4, 2.1%. According to FGV, the GDP in Q1 expanded 0.3% over the previous quarter. Year-over-year, the GDP has expanded 1.2%. In comparison to March 2017, the GDP declined 0.4% in March of this year.
In the comparison of this year’s Q1 with the same period of last year, industry expanded 1.8%, with services growing 1.3%. Agriculture declined 5.2%.
