São Paulo – Brazilian egg export volume grew 33.5% in May, according to data released this Monday (20) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). Six hundred twenty-eight tonnes were exported in the period, including fresh and processed products. In revenue, there was a 138.6% increase in sales, reaching USD 1.9 million.
In the first five months of 2022, export volume grew 21.1%, with 6,180 tonnes. In terms of revenue, there was a 59.3% expansion in foreign sales, attaining USD 11.1 million. According to the ABPA, in 2022, the sector had the best performance for the period since 2016.
“In addition to generating foreign exchange revenue for Brazil, the increase in exports acts as a countermeasure to the challenging scenario imposed by production costs,” said ABPA President Ricardo Santin in a press release. He said growth had been recorded in Brazil’s international presence over the last few years.
