São Paulo – Two weeks ago, clothing brand State One, from Brazil’s Santa Catarina state, started sending Brazilian stores clothes with design inspired in the lavishness of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The Arab emirate was one of the themes of the 2015 High Summer collection, according to the company’s commercial liaison, Solange Mezzari.
State One manufactures men’s and women’s clothes and is known in Brazil mostly for its denim items. However, the brand’s catalogue also features products made from materials such as silk, cotton and neoprene. “We only use high-end materials,” says Mezzari. The products include trousers, overall, blouses, and short and long dresses and skirts. The brand also makes underwear, socks and men’s and women’s belts.
The inspiration for the summer collection came from the geometrical shapes of Dubai’s buildings and architecture, translated into stones and arabesque prints, embroidered items and other elements. The collection is contemporary and sensuous. The clothes were designed by State One itself.
According to promotional material from State One, “From the luxuriant principalities there emerge fluid skirts, arabesque prints, metallic tones, and the classical black-and-white duo.” The brand also uses desert pastel tones and flower prints to dispel the dryness.
State One launches three collections each year – a winter collection in January, a summer collection between May and June and a high summer collection in August. The items range from casual to classic are sold at medium- to high-end establishments, shopping centres and street stores. The wholesale price of a pair of State One denim trousers, for instance, ranges from R$ 89 to R$ 129 (roughly US$ 35 to US$ 51). The brand has representatives throughout the entire Brazilian territory, according to Mezzari.
The company owns a plant in the city of Arroio Trinta, Santa Catarina, where all denim items and 70% of all clothes are made. The remainder is made by third-party companies in the state. State One has been on the market for 23 years.
