Brasilia – The Brazilian Foreign Ministry (Itamaraty) has released the following note on the capture of Saddam Hussein:
"Brazil considers the capture of Saddam Hussein a moment for reflection on the situation in Iraq and hopes that it will contribute to speeding up the transition process to self-government by the Iraqi people. Brazil reiterates its point of view that the United Nations should play a central role in that process."
