Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) started the year with a hike according to Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). FGV’s GDP Monitor showed that Brazilian economy grew by 0.3% from December 2018 to January this year. Compared to January 2018, the hike reached 1.1%. Accumulated in the 12 months, the hike was of 1%.
From December to January, three large productive sectors posted growths: agriculture and livestock (4.8%), services (0.7%) and industry (0.2%). Within services, the main highlights were other services (1%), and real estate services (0.9%). In industry, the only segment that grew was power generation (1.5%).
