Rio de Janeiro – Oil output in Brazil in September this year was up 12.6% from September 2013. According to figures released this Tuesday (4th) by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP, in the Portuguese acronym), output averaged at 2.36 million barrels of oil per day in September, up 1.4% from August.
Average daily output from the pre-salt layer area was 533,300 barrels of oil, produced from 35 wells in the oilfields of Lula, Jubarte, Sapinhoá, Baleia Azul, Baleia Franca and Barracuda, among others.
Average daily natural gas production in Brazil reached 88.9 million cubic metres, of which 18.3 million came from the pre-salt layer. Gas output was up 13.8% from September 2013 and down 2.2% from August 2014. The rate of usage of extracted gas was 95.6%, meaning 4 million cubic metres were burnt and cast into the atmosphere without being converted into energy.
