São Paulo – Brazil’s poultry exports rose in November. Revenue was up 29.1% compared to a year earlier, to USD 781.3 million, while the shipped volume increased 12.2%, to 375,600 tonnes, meat lobby ABPA reported.
Year-to-date poultry exports from January to November reached 4.436 million tonnes, up 5.6% from the same period of 2021. Year-to-date revenue reached USD 8.976 billion, up 29.3% from a year earlier.
“Despite the good performance in October, we expected even higher numbers. However, logistics effects caused by landslides in roads in Paraná and unfavorable weather conditions for ships to dock at the Paranaguá and Itajaí ports impacted the month’s exports. As activities go back to normal at the ports, the volume that wasn’t shipped in November is expected to have a positive impact on December’s exports,” Ricardo Santin (pictured), head of ABPA, was quoted as saying in statement.
China is still the largest importer of poultry from Brazil at 40,300 tonnes in November, up 1.4% from a year earlier. Other highlights in November were Saudi Arabia at 24,600 tonnes (up 28.9%) and the European Union at 18,100 tonnes (up 17.6%).
“Other markets in Europe, Asia and the Middle East increased their purchases from Brazil in this month, pointing to positive forecasts on Brazilian poultry exports this year. These are relevant revenues as the current production costs are still high,” ABPA Market director Luis Rua was quoted as saying.
