São Paulo – Sansuy, the Latin American leader in production of flexible PVC laminates, with three production units (two in the southeastern state of São Paulo and one in the northeastern state of Bahia), is studying the possibility of installing a factory in Qatar. According to information supplied by a consultant for the company presidency, Henri Coronfly, a businessman in Qatar is interested in purchasing Brazilian technology.
The request for technical information and machinery necessary for production of the entire Sansuy product line was made during Cairo International Fair, between March 16 and 26.
"This is an excellent proposal for Sansuy. It is the first time that the company receives a proposal involving all products," declared Coronfly. According to him, the directory is already evaluating the proposal.
The consultant stated that he would rather not reveal the name of the company, but guaranteed that it is a large group counting on the support of the government of Qatar, it is also extremely interested in closing a deal with Brazil.
"The businessman also wants Sansuy to choose people to prospect the market in Qatar, and in neighbouring countries that might be interested in the products," explained Coronfly.
The consultant went on to say that it is a long-term project. "It will certainly not be possible to produce the entire line in the beginning. The company directory is analysing everything very carefully, after all, it is the company name that is involved," he declared.
Coronfly recalled that during the two weeks of Cairo fair, the company was visited by various groups of businessmen. "We received importers from Saudi Arabia and from Jordan."
Sansuy has been exporting to Saudi Arabia and to Jordan for some years, and is going to increase sales to the region in 2004. "This year, to our customers in Saudi Arabia alone, water tank export should be greater than US$ 1 million," he commemorated.
According to the consultant, the Saudi businessman has also asked for improvement in the water tank, causing export of a greater added value product. "He (the Saudi) has also confirmed that he will be visiting the Sansuy factories this year," he commented.
World release
Betting on an increase in foreign trade, Sansuy is getting ready for a world release: Vinicon. It is a kind of flexible container, made of strengthened PVC canvas, recommended for the transport of dangerous products, such as calcium carbide."
"The product will be certified according to United Nations security norms, will have the National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (Inmetro) stamp, and will be certified by the Brazilian Navy, which authorizes transport by water (river and sea)", explained Coronfly.
"We already have five large customers in Western Europe, and their monthly orders should total around US$ 1 million," he stated.
