São Paulo – Egyptians and Algerians gave good feedback on the products of Brazilian companies that took part in a business mission to North Africa organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The entrepreneurs from Brazil attended business matchmaking sessions with importers from both Arab countries between last Saturday and this Tuesday (25). The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is taking part in the mission.
The Brazilian companies had appointments in Cairo on Saturday (22) that included business matchmaking and technical visits. There was a matchmaking session in Algiers this Tuesday (25) and other activities were planned for Wednesday (26), when the mission ends. The group also visited Morocco, the first stop of the mission.
According to the Arab Chamber’s International Business executive, Fernanda Baltazar, who is travelling with the mission, Egypt currently has many ongoing construction projects and the business owners on the trip believe it presents business opportunities. The food companies in the mission took the opportunity to get to know the markets better.
Travelling with the delegation are Brazilian companies from sectors such as agricultural machinery, construction, fast food and food in general, from rice and eggs to meats. In Egypt, there were representatives from 14 companies, with 17 companies being represented in Algeria. The companies were offered this option, of joining the group only in the countries that interested them.
In Egypt, in addition to business matchmaking, the food companies also visited the local supermarket Hyper One and the trade show Food Africa. Construction industry companies visited local industries and projects. “They were pleased with the contacts they were able to make in the country,” said Baltazar about Egypt, highlighting the local feedback given to the Brazilians and their products.
According to Baltazar, the business matchmaking in Algiers showed a busy schedule for agricultural machinery companies,a sign of great interest in the products. The companies will also visit supermarkets in Algeria in order to learn more about the local market, and Batimatec, a local trade show focused on the construction industry.
