São Paulo – Recco, a Brazilian company that owns a factor in the city of Maringá, in the state of Paraná, is planning to increase its exports to the Arab countries in 2009. Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates already import nightgowns and pyjamas made by the brand. Now, Recco is negotiating with an importer from Egypt.
"The Arab market has potential and its doors are opening up more and more to let Brazilian products in," says the brand’s director and founder, Antonio Recco.
According to Recco, the company began exporting to the Middle East in 2005. "Sales to Lebanon are made via a distributor, whereas sales to the Emirates are direct," he says. Besides, Recco exports to approximately 10 other countries. Presently, its leading markets are Paraguay, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Portugal and the United States.
Recco produces around 120,000 items per month. Presently, 5% of the output is shipped to the foreign market. “The aim for this year is to export at least 7%. That is why we have hired more personnel, in order to prospect for more clients abroad,” said Recco.
According to the businessman, Recco has always invested heavily in updating its factory and retail stores. “As time went by, the stores have become true laboratories for marketing action tests, with creative, daring shop windows,” he claims.
Recco was founded 30 years ago, with a small factory in the garage of the owner’s house. Presently, the company employs 470 people, plus approximately 40 trade representatives. The company makes pyjamas for women, children and men, boxer shorts and lingerie.
