Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian raw steel production reached 2.9 million tons in January, a 2.3% increase compared to January in 2018. Flat-rolled steel production, however, decreased by 3.1% with 1.8 million tons, and semi-finished production for sales dropped by 9.2%, reaching 729,000 tons.
The numbers were released this Friday (22) by Brazil Steel Institute. Domestic sales decreased by 3.7% over January 2018, down to 1.4 million tons. Apparent consumption of derivates also dropped (-5.6%) over January of 2018, reaching 1.5 million tons last month.
