São Paulo – Brazilians and people who have been in Brazil 14 days before arriving in Egypt need to take the ID Now COVID-19 test at the airport in the Arab country. The information was released by Emirates Airlines, which operates in Egypt, in a travel requirement update made this week. The test must be taken by people who have been in Brazil and other countries listed, even if vaccinated.
Passengers who have been to Argentina, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Bhutan, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Vietnam must also take the test on arrival.
It costs EGP 1,000, about USD 63.58 at the current rate, and has to be paid upon arrival in the country. The result comes out in 15 minutes, and the passenger must remain at the airport waiting. If the test result is returned positive, the passenger will be transferred to an Egyptian government hospital, and standard local COVID-19 protocols will be applicable.
