São Paulo – Brazilian companies that participated as exhibitors at the International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC) in Dubai closed USD 1 million in deals during the show, returning home with a prospect for another USD 6 million in sales for the next 12 months. The information was released to ANBA by the Projects and International Marketing manager at the Brazilian Medical Devices Manufacturers Association (ABIMO), Larissa Gomes (pictured above), who participated in the show that ended this Thursday (1).
The appearance at AEEDC, together with Arab Health and Medlab, meant the resumption of the presence of companies in the sector in international events. Arab Health and Medlab will also take place in Dubai in June. In total, seven Brazilian companies participated in the AEEDC. ABIMO organized the mission along with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) for the internationalization project of the Brazilian Health Devices sector.
Gomes says that expectations were not high due to the still active pandemic scenario and people’s fear of traveling, but the outcome was better than expected. “The show was very good, very busy from day one. It was a little smaller than it used to be, we noticed the lower number of visitors, but they were more focused and more qualified. The people at the show were really interested in doing business”.
The head of the international office of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo, and the institution’s advisor for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iraq, and Yemen, Shaheen Ali Shaheen, were at the AEEDC. “We were happy to see great Brazilian participation in the show, despite the current challenges. Brazil has done a beautiful job through ABIMO and Apex-Brasil,” said Solimeo.
Solimeo had the same perception as Larissa Gomes about the show, noticing it had a smaller flow of people but with visitors really looking to close deals. This has been observed in all shows held in Dubai in the face-to-face format this year, including Gulfood, in the food sector, according to the perspective of the international office head of the ABCC. “It’s a more select and focused audience,” says Solimeo.
The two ABCC executives, Solimeo and Shaheen, were also received at the show by Abdul Salam Al Madani, president of the AEEDC’s organizing company, Index Holding. They went with Madani, as guests, on a tour of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), where the show took place, to get a closer look at the flow and businesses of the dentistry show.
