Rio de Janeiro – The number of cattle slaughtered went up in Brazil in Q2 in comparison to the same period of last year. The country sent 7.72 million cattle to slaughter in the period – a 4% increase. The data is from the Quarterly Survey of Animal Slaughter, shown this Wednesday (12) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistic (IBGE).
Another indicator that climbed in the period was the one of egg production, 6.6% over last year’s Q2. The number of slaughtered chickens, however, declined in 4% in the same period, a result that can be attributed, according to IBGE, to the truckers’ strike that took place in May of this year.
