São Paulo – Brazilian egg exports grossed USD 1.49 million in August, up 20.5% from a year ago, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported on Wednesday (14). In volume, sales were down 21.5% year on year, to 446 tonnes.
Year to date through August, Brazilian egg exports reached USD 16.270 million up 61.7% from a year ago. In volume, sales were up 13.5% during the first eight months of the year, at 7,538 tonnes.
“There’s evidence that for the first time we are going to end the year with exports amounting to 1% of Brazilian total production, an important landmark for the industry that has grown steadily with sales to Asia and the Middle East,” Ricardo Santin, head of ABPA, said.
The United Arab Emirates remains as the leading destination of egg shipments from Brazil at 4,332 tonnes from January to August, up 2.2%. Japan was the second largest destination at 728 tonnes, up 40.9%.
