São Paulo – Brazilian egg exports totaled 11,950 tonnes from January to May this year, 93.1% more than the total exported in the same period last year, according to data released this Tuesday (27) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
In revenue, shipments totaled USD 29.670 million, 165.8% up from the same period in 2022. Solely in these first five months of the year, Brazil’s egg exports surpassed last year’s total in revenue and volume.
Japan was the leading destination for sales from January to May, with 4,980 tonnes, 1190% more than in 2022’s same period. Then came Taiwan, with 3,594 tonnes (in 2022, there were no shipments to the destination). Last year, the United Arab Emirates was the main destination for the product abroad. Qatar ranked second in purchases, and Japan third.
“There was a redesign of the international sales of Brazilian eggs. Now, Japan and Taiwan occupy the lead among export destinations, accounting for over 70% of the total shipped by Brazil this year. In addition to high value-added markets, they are also destinations with high levels of sanitary requirements, reinforcing international recognition of the quality of Brazilian products,” said the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, in a press release.
