São Paulo – The Brazilian vehicle industry saw a 17% increase in output in the first four months this year from the same period last year, according to information released by the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). The industry made 1.17 million units, the best performance ever for the first four months of the year. In April, output was also an all-time high at 340,900 units.
The Anfavea chairman, Luiz Moan Yabiku Junior, said performance in April and in the four-month period owed itself to several factors, such as market dynamism, stimulus to domestic production brought about by Inovar-Auto (incentive program to the manufacturing of safer, more cost-effective vehicles), and several new models released by automakers.
