São Paulo – The Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil (FAMBRAS) acquired the distribution rights of the 30 episodes of the first season of the Egyptian TV series Noor and the Gate of History, an animation for children and youth that recounts the stories of great Islamic scientists and scholars.
The first episode was launched on Tuesday, 13, the first day of Ramadan. The episodes will be released one a day till the end of the Islamic month for fasting. To watch them, simply register quickly on the series website.
Noor is a curious Muslim young boy who loves to discover new things with his sister Zahra. They have as an inspirational partner in adventures their Uncle Genius, an inventor who created the Gate of History, which allows them to travel back in time and see up close Muslim figures who stood out in the history of civilization for their contributions to science, medicine, astronomy, and other fields.
The animation is part of a program by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology of Egypt’s Higher Education Ministry in partnership with the Alumni Association of the prestigious Al-Ahzar University. “The partnership with Al-Ahzar University makes very proud,” FAMBRAS vice president Ali Zohbi was quoted as saying in a news release.

The series is aimed at spreading creative education and has been broadcast with great ratings in TV stations in Canada, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries.
Zoghbi believes the series is not just a way to praise the work of Islamic scientists and scholars but also to provide very high-quality entertainment for children and youth. “It’s an efficient way to educate in a fun way, using a language the students like. And it can be the first step to think new perspectives when it comes to educational activities, schools and even the Brazilian TV,” he stated.
This Wednesday, 14, will see the release of the series’ second episode.
