The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce celebrates its anniversary this Friday (2), carrying out several projects to bring innovation to Brazil’s relations with the Arab countries. Watch a video by the president of the institution, Osmar Chohfi.
Executives of the institution were received at the chambers of commerce and industry of Ajman and Sharjah as part of an agenda that aims to get closer to all country regions.
The diplomat, who worked as secretary-general of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Brazil’s ambassador to Quito during the Ecuador-Peru peace talks, took office as president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, 22. His main challenges include moving forward with the modernization of the institution and increasing trade with Arab countries.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce launched a donation campaign in late March to help fight hunger. The first two deliveries were made in the past few days, with more to come.
Established February 2019, the organization’s international outpost has been working to enable tighter relations between Brazil and the Arab countries, in trade as well as from an institutional standpoint.
Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) president Sergio Segovia and Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) president Rubens Hannun signed the agreement this Tuesday (20) during the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries.
ABCC president Rubens Hannun made the announcement in an online event on Wednesday (22) that marked the organization’s 68th anniversary. The House of Arabs will initially operate in virtual fashion.
Besides donating masks, hand sanitizers and pillowcases to the largest public hospital in the East Zone of São Paulo, the Chamber is campaigning for new contributions.
A dinner event Wednesday evening in São Paulo was also attended by diplomats from Arab countries.
Speaking at a seminar during the Cairo leg of Brazilian Agriculture minister Tereza Cristina’s Egypt tour, Chamber president Rubens Hannun revealed that the Arab League will work to establish nonstop sea routes linking Brazil and Arab countries.
The fair will begin on Sunday and will go on to Thursday, in Jeddah. The Brazilian stand is going to include company Hospimetal, from São Paulo, which produces hospital products, apart from the Brazilian sector association and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB). The Saudis import 99% of their medicine and medical equipment needs.
