Company Kepler Weber, from the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, has just signed a US$ 1.44 million contract with company Middle East Factories Vegetable Oil Co., that belongs to Syrian group Akharas. The Brazilian company is going to build four silos in the city of Homs, with a capacity for storage of 10,000 tonnes of grain each. The equipment should be shipped between July and August.

According to the president of the board of Al Ahram, Ibrahim Nafie, the company shows interest in publishing books turned to Brazilians of Arab origin and to people who want to learn more about the culture of the Middle East and North Africa. Nafie, who is also the editor-in-chief of the newspaper that goes by the company name, was in Brazil this week heading a delegation of Egyptian journalists.
