Polenghi, the Brazilian branch of the French Bongrain group, is selling its Polenguinho cheese to Iraq. Exports began in mid 2004 and continued strong in the first months of this year. The company has already even provided new packages for the products, with information in Arabic.

Company Anantha, from the state of São Paulo, started exporting to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait in the second half of last year and is now also negotiating entry in Algeria and Lebanon. Anantha produces perfumes and cosmetics from typically Brazilian essences, such as coffee, orange and passion fruit with chocolate extracts.

Company Kepler Weber, from the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, has just signed a US$ 1.44 million contract with company Middle East Factories Vegetable Oil Co., that belongs to Syrian group Akharas. The Brazilian company is going to build four silos in the city of Homs, with a capacity for storage of 10,000 tonnes of grain each. The equipment should be shipped between July and August.

According to the president of the board of Al Ahram, Ibrahim Nafie, the company shows interest in publishing books turned to Brazilians of Arab origin and to people who want to learn more about the culture of the Middle East and North Africa. Nafie, who is also the editor-in-chief of the newspaper that goes by the company name, was in Brazil this week heading a delegation of Egyptian journalists.

The company Ecom will increase their current production of 13,000 square metres to 30,000. The company uses typical Brazilian raw materials, such as coconut and chestnut shells and exports 80% of the production. Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, the United States, Portugal, Spain and Italy are amongst the importer countries.

Businessmen from Tunisia and Egypt participate as of today in the Fimec, the shoe and leather component exhibition, which takes place in the city of Novo Hamburgo in the south of Brazil. The Tunisians, businessmen in the shoe sector, will make official the signing of a cooperation agreement with Brazilian suppliers.

Spezzato, a brand of clothes and accessories turned to the A and B classes, is getting ready to sell to the United Arab Emirates. The company already exports to the United States and to some European countries. Abroad, the differential of the brand is the customized products that use handicraft.

Last year the company from the state of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, sold dark glasses to Saudi Arabia, and they are already negotiating with buyers from the Emirates and Kuwait. Mormaii is the main maker of neoprene suits for surf and water-sports in Brazil. In all, 40 factories in the country and around the world are licensed to produce company products.
