São Paulo – A total of 93 Arab businessmen have already confirmed presence in the business roundtables that are going to be promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) after the summit between Arab and South American countries, in São Paulo, the largest business centre in Brazil, in the southeast of the country. The business meetings are going to take place on May 12 and 13, Thursday and Friday, at Hotel Renaissance.
The Arabs who confirmed presence up to now are from eight countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Tunisia. Among them are importers and exporters. According to the Palestinian ambassador and dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil, Musa Odeh, 11 businessmen from Palestine will be participating in the event.
"Holding the event in São Paulo was a very wise decision. Those who want to do business cannot ignore the city, which is the economical capital of the country," stated Odeh to ANBA. The idea is that, after participating in the events to take place in parallel to the summit, in Brazilian capital Brasília, in the Midwest of the country, the Arab businessmen also come to do business in the capital of the state of São Paulo.
The ambassador believes that among the interests of the Arab importers who are going to participate in the roundtables, are the purchase of food, clothes, marble and machinery. Palestine, for example, imports a series of food products such as sugar, rice, coffee and meats. All the coffee and sugar consumed in the country are purchased abroad. Brazil is among the Palestinian suppliers of these products. Exports are through Israel.
Agenda
The meeting between businessmen will start at 09:00 am on the 12th, with a seminar about trade, tourism, investment and science and technology. The business roundtables will begin at 02:00 pm and end at 06:00 pm. On the following day, the roundtables will take place from 09:30 am and 12:30 pm.
The meeting has the support of the government of the state of São Paulo, of the state Secretariat of Science, Technology, Economic Development and Tourism, the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil, the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo, the Federation of Agriculture of the State of São Paulo, the São Paulo Trade Association, and of the Centre of Industries of the State of São Paulo.
