Brazilian revenues with the exports of raw beef rose 26% in the first two months of 2010 in comparison with the same period in 2009. Egypt was the main Arab buyer.

According to the minister of Agriculture, Reinhold Stephanes, the 2009/2010 grain crop should be the largest in history, above the record 144.1 million tonnes of 2007/2008.
Ministry of Agriculture forecasts show that by 2020, the country should have 44.5% of the global market. The forecast is for production to grow 37.8%, mainly due to greater domestic consumption.
The slaughterhouse had 25.6% of its raw beef export revenues connected to the region last year. In 2008, the percentage was 19.2%. It was the part of the world that bought most beef from the company.
The highlight was Syria, which expanded imports by 1,099% last year. To the entire region, agricultural organisations sold the equivalent to US$ 530 million in 2009.
Brazilian companies in the sector closed deals totalling US$ 2.3 million at the food sector fair, in Dubai. They expect over US$ 7 million in orders over the next 12 months.
The region should pick 75 million tonnes of grain between 2010 and 2011. The target is part of the campaign started by the BRDE and cooperatives in the region to stimulate production.
The information was disclosed today by the minister of Agriculture, Reinhold Stephanes. He said that 19 trade missions should be promoted in 2010, covering 25 countries.
