The Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná is organizing a mission to the Emirates, Syria and Egypt, between November 22nd and December 04th. The objective is to present to construction sector businessmen from the state of Paraná (southern Brazil) the opportunities there are in the area in those markets.

The figure is the total of annual imports of Kuwait, Qatar and the Emirates, countries to be visited by a delegation promoted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency in November. On Thursday, during a seminar in São Paulo, businessmen interested in participating in the delegation learnt more about the size of the market in the region.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency is launching today, with a seminar, a trade delegation to the Gulf, to take place between November 18th and 30th. Over 70 companies have enrolled to participate in the meeting to provide an economic panorama of the three countries to be visited, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The project developed by the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency was established in 2001 to stimulate sector exports. From then on, 980 companies have already participated in actions promoted by the organization. For 2008, the association forecasts a trade mission to Dubai.

Cheese bread, guava, juice and fruit jams are some of the genuinely Brazilian products selected for the Ethnic Brazil Project to be promoted abroad. Planned by the Brazilian Association of Exporters and Importers of Food and Beverages (ABBA), with the support of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency, the project will have its first actions in October. The Arab countries are among the list of potential importers.

Janimar, a garment manufacturer from the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, is attracting the attention of the Brazilian market through the production of underwear made out of bamboo fibre. The articles are ecologically correct, as the plants take less time to grow than do other kinds of trees out of which viscose is made. Next year, Janimar intends to seek buyers for the product among the Arab nations.

Santo Antônio Egg Farm, from the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, is doubling exports to a food industry in Jebel Ali, in the United Arab Emirates, this month. Approximately 1.8 million eggs will be shipped. The Arab country is the main destination for company exports.

The company, based in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, exported 24 packing machines and 14 baling machines to a sugar plant under construction in the Arab country. Now, it seeks a local partner to establish a representation and technical assistance office in Egypt. The Arab market will be the focus of Raumak for 2008.

Egypt and the state of Santa Catarina (in southern Brazil) have a potential for increasing their bilateral trade, which stood at US$ 8.5 million in 2006. One such opportunity is in the textile sector, as companies in the southern Brazilian state are working hard to produce higher value-added products, and the Egyptians have high quality raw material in the field. Equipotel, a hospitality and food trade fair, has invited chef Samir Cauerk Moysés, from restaurant Folha de Uva, to represent Syrian and Lebanese cuisine in the Gastronomic arena of the event. The show begins today and ends on Friday, at the Anhembi Exhibition Hall, in São Paulo.

Representatives of the Public Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions from the Arab country are in São Paulo participating in the Art Mundi fair. The government of Syria is interested in bringing businessmen to other handicraft fairs and fairs in other sectors in Brazil.

Businessmen from the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina will participate this Tuesday in a seminar about business possibilities between the state and Egypt. The event is part of a series of meetings on the subject that started being promoted in June, and will be held until the end of the year in different regions of Brazil.

The organization, together with the Apex, is going to take businessmen in the construction sector to Kuwait, Qatar and the Emirates in the second half of November. The construction sector is booming in these nations. Before that, on September 20, there will be a seminar on the matter in São Paulo.
