Equipotel, a hospitality and food trade fair, has invited chef Samir Cauerk Moysés, from restaurant Folha de Uva, to represent Syrian and Lebanese cuisine in the Gastronomic arena of the event. The show begins today and ends on Friday, at the Anhembi Exhibition Hall, in São Paulo.

Representatives of the Public Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions from the Arab country are in São Paulo participating in the Art Mundi fair. The government of Syria is interested in bringing businessmen to other handicraft fairs and fairs in other sectors in Brazil.

Businessmen from the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina will participate this Tuesday in a seminar about business possibilities between the state and Egypt. The event is part of a series of meetings on the subject that started being promoted in June, and will be held until the end of the year in different regions of Brazil.

The organization, together with the Apex, is going to take businessmen in the construction sector to Kuwait, Qatar and the Emirates in the second half of November. The construction sector is booming in these nations. Before that, on September 20, there will be a seminar on the matter in São Paulo.

Michel Alaby, from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, gave a talk yesterday (4) to around 80 businessmen at the Encomex, a foreign trade meeting that took place at the offices of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), in São Paulo, southeastern Brazil. Alaby stated that it is necessary to work to attract Arab investment.

Brazilian manufacturer wants to conquer Arab market with the exclusive features of its products. It aims to export from luxury shoes made of special crocodile, gator and ostrich leather to industrial shoes, such as safety boots. The company already exports 90% of its production to 30 different countries.

The state-owned company will build two alcohol pipes by 2010. One of the enterprises is going to link the city of Senador Canhedo, in the state of Goiás (MW), to the port of São Sebastião, in the state of São Paulo (SE). The second pipe, which is still at an early study phase, should connect Campo Grande, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MW), to the Port of Paranaguá, in the state of Paraná (S).

The owner and designer of the brand Dust, Kamal Soueid, went on a market research trip to Dubai last month. Based in the city of São Paulo (southeast Brazil) the brand owns two wholesale stores in the Brás neighbourhood, a clothing and textile hub. Dust already sells its boldly styled jeans to approximately ten countries, and wants to export to the United Arab Emirates.

The factory Formanova, based in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, will ship 26 items in September, including dinner tables and chairs, china closets, and sideboards, to the Western Furniture store chain. The first sale, made in April, and the second, in September, total over US$ 10,000.

The Middle Eastern representative of the Castle chemical product manufacturing company, Fred Shammas, is interested in introducing ethanol into the Arab country. He visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber stand in the Damascus International Fair seeking further information about the product.

The Tunisian businessman Hassen Sassi closed his first deal with the country last week. He placed an order for two containers of products from OEM, a trading company that works in the field. The contact was made after the Arab Brazilian Chamber supplied him with a list of potential exporters.
