Brazilian trading company Latinex, from the southern Brazilian city of Curitiba, which operates in the field of foods, is participating in Tripoli International Fair for the first time. The company hopes to start selling within two months. Brazilian presence at the fair was organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

The forecast for the coming five years was made by the minister of infrastructure of the Arab country, Abu Zeid Durdda, during a meeting with directors at the Arab Brazilian Chamber. The local government also intends to supply a housing deficit of 500,000 houses. Brazilian companies may participate in the projects, as well as supplying construction material.

In January last year, brand Divinas, which makes handicraft out of banana tree fibre, made an unexpected sale: a 100-square-metre carpet, weighing about 350 kilograms, to queen Rania, of Jordan. The deal was made soon after the company participation in fair Maison et Object, in France.

This is the opinion of the foreign trade agent at the Vitrolar Metalúrgica iron and steel company, Everton Luiz Pereira, who participated at the Project Qatar fair. According to him, the contacts made during the fair were very positive, and orders may be placed in the future. The stand of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce received approximately 100 visits in the four days of the event.

Brazilian companies may be suppliers for artificial island The Pearl-Qatar. With more than 400 hectares, the island will have 31 towers with 150 apartments, schools, stores and offices, and should be concluded in 2010, according to Roger Dagher, head of communications at UDC, the company in charge of the project. The company is currently participating in the Project Qatar fair, which also counts on the presence of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

Brazilian companies participating in fairs in the two countries have good business prospects. The Latinex trading company, which is currently at the fair in Libya, received importers interested in foodstuffs. To the exports agent at Itatiaia Móveis, Christian Barbosa, the company has a strong possibility of signing contracts, as does Trade Wind, which is at the Qatar fair. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce has stands at both fairs.

Tripoli International Fair was opened by the minister of Economy, Trade and Development of Libya, Ali Abdul Aziz Al Isawi, and included the participation of the minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Lubna Al-Qasimi. Project Qatar, in turn, was inaugurated by the prime minister of Qatar, Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani. Both of the events include Arab Brazilian Chamber stands.

Lotas For Industry, which sells and assembles showerheads and water filters made by companies in Brazil, wants to find new small and medium companies from the country interested in having an assembly line in Egypt. The factory, which is located in Sixth of October City, close to Cairo, covers an area of 1,200 square metres.

Starting today, Project Qatar and Tripoli International Fair will count on the participation of the Arab Brazilian Chamber and three Brazilian companies. The event in Libya includes various sectors and goes on up to April 12. The fair in Qatar, in turn, is in the construction sector and goes on up to Thursday. This is the first time that the Chamber participates in both these fairs.

The Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná is promoting among the local businessmen a series of events to take place in the region, among them Algiers International Fair, in June, and Damascus International Fair, in August. Company managers are betting on the potential of the market.

This was one of the proposals discussed yesterday during a meeting between the secretary-general at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Michel Alaby, and businessmen from the Arab country. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Businessmen Association, in Cairo.

The Public Investment Fund of the Saudi Ministry of Finance is going to cover the construction cost for the North-South Railway in the Arab country. The project will have 2,400 kilometres of extension, and will transport both cargo and passengers. The international tender is open to real estate companies, railway car and locomotive manufacturers, railway operators and other companies in the sector.

This estimate is by the Brazilian Halal Food Centre (Cibal) supervisor, Tamer Mansur, who participated in Cairo International Fair. In the area of information technology, Digitel, which makes optic modems, is at the fair to seek local partners. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce stand received over 450 visitors on the three days of the fair.
