According to information supplied by the Brazilian Foreign Office (Itamaraty), the offer includes privileged treatment to companies that create physical presence in the country. Among the sectors included are consultancy, market research, equipment maintenance, photography, tourism, construction, and sports, among others.

He also added that the debate might advance beyond goods trade and include the service sector.

The country candidacy was presented yesterday by the country Ministry of Trade secretary, Slaheddine Makhlouf. According to the Tunisian ambassador in Brazilian capital Brasília, Hassine Bouzid, the next conference, in 2008, should be organized in an African nation.

At the opening of the 11th Unctad in São Paulo, the Brazilian president criticized the "erroneous recipes" that have underestimated the role of public investments over the last years, and said that commerce, in itself, will not bring development. The secretary general of the UN, Kofi Annan, criticized the "incoherence" of developed nations who preach formulas, but do not follow them.
