In a letter sent for the opening of the Global Halal Brazil forum, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reaffirms the Brazilian ability to deliver “very high quality” halal products. Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and Foreign minister Mauro Vieira participated via video.

Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce president Osmar Chohfi opened the Global Halal Brazil Business Forum on Monday (23) in São Paulo by presenting the grandeur of Brazil in the halal market and calling on more Brazilian businesspeople to supply to this niche market.

Brazilian suppliers could benefit from the Egyptian government’s waiver of tariffs for some dairy products, in addition to those already exempted by the Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement. Egypt opened its market to Brazilian dairy in 2019. Consumption is increasing.

Brazil, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council, presented a resolution based on the opinions of other members calling for humanitarian pauses in attacks between Israel and Hamas to allow aid to enter the Gaza Strip. A United States veto prevented the approval of the resolution.

The event will be held in Fujairah in December on the theme “Sustainable Agriculture and Green Logistics,” organized by the emirate’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber.
