São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is going to participate in the Palestine Investment Conference, a business meeting due June 1st to 3rd in Bethlehem, in the West Bank. The event’s main focus will be on strengthening small and medium businesses.
The conference is organized by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and is part of efforts to establish the institutional, economic and social infrastructure of a future Palestinian state.
According to the event’s organizers, small and medium enterprises comprise 90% of all existing companies in the region, and local entrepreneurs are being successful when it comes to placing their products on the international market.
On the sidelines of the conference, which will be attended by the president of the PNA, Mahmoud Abbas, and its prime minister, Salam Fayyad, a fair will be held to showcase products and services offered by the Palestinians.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber will be represented at the meeting by its secretary general, Michel Alaby. In addition to encouraging other Brazilian organizations and companies to attend, he is going to do research to find out what sectors of the Palestinian economy have the most potential for doing business with Brazil.
The information will then be used in order to prepare another event on investment in Palestine, to be organized by the governments of Brazil, Spain and the PNA, with support from the Arab Brazilian Chamber, and scheduled to take place in the city of São Paulo in the second half of the year.
The objective of this second event will be to bring together the Palestinian diaspora living in Brazil, as well as the community of Arab origin as a whole, and encourage them to do business and invest in Palestinian territories.
