São Paulo – Last Thursday (17th), the Brazilian agricultural machinery manufacturing company Indústrias Reunidas Colombo closed a sale of peanut harvesters and driers to a Sudanese company. The Brazilian company is in the country attending the Khartoum International Fair and meeting with local customers. Colombo is one of five Brazil-based enterprises on a mission organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Foreign Ministry.
According to Colombo’s export manager for Africa, Bruno Alves Carneiro, the quantity and value of the deal have not been agreed upon yet. The name of the buying company has not been disclosed.
“We were able to strike this deal thanks to the meetings scheduled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber. We set the details with our partner here in Sudan and moved forward with negotiations. This trip is being very productive. Apart from this agreement, opportunities have come up at other meetings here in Sudan,” said Carneiro.
A new meeting between the Colombo representative and the Sudanese customers is scheduled for next Sunday to work out the details of the order. According to Carneiro, the new equipment will add technology to production.
Aside from Colombo, the booth organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber and the Brazilian Foreign Ministry at the fair include the construction company Andrade Gutierrez, the rubber company NSO Borrachas, the hospital equipment maker Fanem, and the trading company Montex. On Sunday, the companies will pay a visit to the headquarters of carmaker Giad Motor Co. and the Sudanese Businessmen Association. The fair started on January 14th and will end next Monday (21st).
