São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (Fiesc) are organizing a civil construction industry mission to Oman and the United Arab Emirates. In the Arab countries, engineers, architects and executives from Santa Catarina will meet with government officials and private sector executives to exchange their experiences in real estate technologies, methods and markets.
This will be the eighth Brazilian civil construction industry mission to the Middle East organized by the Arab Chamber and Fiesc. The last mission went to Doha, Qatar, in 2012. Other missions have gone to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. This will be the first mission to Oman. The trip will take place during the Big 5, the Middle East’s leading civil construction fair, held in Dubai. In addition to visiting the countries and meeting with local authorities, the Brazilian delegation will attend the fair. This year, the Big 5 will be held from November 17th to 20th.
According to Arab Chamber CEO Michel Alaby, sponsoring missions of civil construction executives to the Middle East is a way of introducing them to the technologies used in construction works in the region.
“We plan on visiting construction sites to see the methods they apply and eventually bring replicate them here in Brazil,” Alaby said. He added that Oman has been chosen so the country’s commercial ties with Brazil can be made stronger and awareness of Brazil can be spread among Omani businessmen.
The mission’s schedule is still pending completion. The businessmen should stay in Muscat for two days, where they will go to two construction sites and convene with executives from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The mission will then leave the Omani capital headed towards Dubai, to attend the Big 5 and a seminar delivered by the Brazilian engineer and businessman Omar Hamaoui, owner of Engeprot, a construction company with offices in Dubai and active throughout the Gulf. Also in Dubai, the mission members should meet with civil construction executives to learn more about the real local estate market. In the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Brazilian executives will pay a visit to Masdar City, a sustainable urban project.
