São Paulo – Cortag, a Brazil-based leading ceramic and porcelain tile cutters company, wants to sell to the Arab countries. The company manufactures a wide range of products, such as manual tile cutters, plasterwork, electric cutters and equipment, accessories for assembling and finishing floor and porcelain tiles, wire pushers, hand tools, and others.
Founded in 1995 and based in Mogi Mirim, São Paulo, Cortag claimed the top spot in the sector in Brazil in less than a decade. According to the company, its leadership role is pointed out by retailers across Brazil through surveys carried out by relevant construction material bodies and was earned with an aggressive sales policy combined with the quality of its products, which is a matter of priority for the brand.
In addition to its headquarter in Brazil, Cortag has three branches of its own – in Lima, Peru; Miami, United States; and Barcelona, Spain. The company has a sales team with domestic and foreign coverage through its offices in Brazil, US, Europe and Latin America, which makes it possible for a prompt and personalized assistance for different clients such as retail, wholesale and home centers.
The company has recently become a member of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. “We exported some products to Saudi Arabia before, but these were one-off sales. Now we’re focused on breaking into the Middle East and North Africa. We want the Arab countries to become one of the top destinations of our exports,” Cortag foreign trade head Renan Rezende told ANBA.
The executive said that the Gulf countries hold a great potential for the company. “We’ve notice they are not that focused in oil and gas anymore, and they seek to diversify its economy, investing more in construction and hotels, where we operate directly,” he said.
But the Gulf countries are not the only ones the company plans on exporting to. “We want to strike deals with every Arab country. Aside from the countries that have diversified their economy, we aim at helping those that have gone through hard times, offering high-quality products for competitive prices to rebuild their countries,” he said.
Cortag has started exporting in 2016 and evolved much in the last years, with exports growing by 101.6% in 2018, from a 56.8% growth saw in 2017. In 2019, the company operated in over 20 countries.
The plant has a strategic location for exports, near the Port of Santos, and is close to Guarulhos and Viracopos airports, according to Rezende. “Our location makes our international shipping cheaper. We have a daily truck flow and several options to better meet our clients’ needs,” Rezende says.
The company is certain that the Arab market holds many opportunities and will spare no effort to present solutions for its wide range of products. “We are prepared to negotiate with the Arabs, as we know the global importance of their economic representativity, and products by Cortag will meet the needs of this consumer market,” he finished.
