São Paulo – Since 2010, hair cosmetics by the Bahia-based company Amazun have been sold in Angola. Now, the company wants to increase its presence overseas and take its products to other African, South American and Arab countries.
“We work with active, high-technology products as well as natural extracts,” says Amazun owner Kelly Lima. “We have our own lab, in which we conduct physical-chemical and microbiological analysis prior to launching our products on the market,” she says.
The company has a client in Angola to which it sells products for curly hairs, including shampoos, conditioners, humidifiers, combing creams and masks. A total of 12 different items are exported, even though the Amazun product line is much wider, comprising over 150 products.
In order to expand its presence abroad, the company will discuss business opportunities with a trading company from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
“I intend to introduce our professional line into the Arab market. We have a full treatment and maintenance line,” says Lima. The main salon items include cauterization products, Brazilian hair straightening, heat sealing, argan oil, and repair masks.
In addition to the Arab market, the company is eyeing consumers in Mozambique, Cape Verde, Chile and Colombia. Apart from its hair product line, Amazun also makes soaps and alcohol rub.
The company makes 20 tonnes worth of product per month. It exports to Angola twice a year. The last shipment amounted to 4.6 tonnes of product.
Based in the city of Lauro de Freitas, Amazun was founded in 2005, has 20 employees and posts average monthly revenues of R$ 200,000.
