Dubai – To escape the traditional tourist trips by bus, visitors to Dubai have the option of seeing the beautiful landscapes of the emirate by boat. In Deira district, several boats offer day or night tours to those interested in seeing Dubai from the sea.
The boats still travel the coastline, in a trip that shows from the most modern constructions to parts that precede the tall sky-scrapers. For those who prefer a night trip, there is still a delicious dinner with dishes for all tastes, like soup, meats, fish, chicken and salads, as well as a variety of desserts, including traditional Arab sweets.
ANBA went on one of these night tours, organized by Tour Dubai, which has been offering this activity since 1989.
The boat is made out of wood and is lighted by small bulbs. Clients may choose to sit on the top level, surrounded by glass, or on the lower deck, which is open and where excellent pictures may be taken over the two hours of the trip. When the boat leaves, there is also a fireworks display.
During the trip, it is possible to hear people speaking English, Arabic, Italian and Spanish, a portrait of the different nationalities, one of the trademarks of Dubai.
Tour Dubai has four boats, the main one for up to 280 passengers. Generally, clients are groups of tourists taken by agencies, but there are also those who schedule their own trips.
The busiest period for the boats is from January to May, when temperatures in Dubai are lower. The price of a dinner on the sea of Dubai is 200 dirham (US$ 55). The daily outing is cheaper, 45 dirham (US$ 12).
