Rio de Janeiro – The consumption of industrial goods in the Brazilian market was up 9.3% in January from December, as per the Indicator of Apparent Consumption of Industrial Goods by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea).
It covers domestic non-exported industrial production, plus imports. The growth was higher in demand for imports, which was up 14.6% month-on-month. As for demand for domestic industrial goods, it was up 8%.
Year-on-year in January, apparent consumption of industrial goods was up 5.4%, including imports and domestic goods. Demand for imported goods was up 6.2%.
