São Paulo – Traffic in the Suez Canal, in Egypt, is uninterrupted, announced on Thursday (9) the chairman and managing director of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Ossama Rabiee, after a brief grounding of a bulk carrier in the same day on the North convoy.
According to information released by the SCA, on Thursday, 61 vessels transited in both directions of the Canal, with a net tonnage of 3.2 million. The SCA reported the grounding did not impact traffic, as it was directed to the eastern branch of the Al-Ballah bypass.
The Suez Canal is one of the most important waterways for global trade. Earlier this year, the stranding of the Ever Given freighter for about a week affected world trade and caused worldwide congestion in ports, showing the route’s significance for global supply.
