São Paulo – Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur) president Silvio Nascimento pointed out the diversity of the country as one of its strengths to attract tourists, particularly Arabs. Under the theme “A Land Blessed with a Unique Nature: Brazil Welcomes the Arab Countries,” the executive spoke during the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries.
For Nascimento, features such as the extension of its seacoast, as well as different climates in different parts of the country, are appealing to foreign tourist. “Brazil comprises six biomes, and the Arab people that visit us like to enjoy these natural wonders. Over half of those who come for leisure seek what we have in abundance: beautiful beaches and nature,” he said.
In addition to nature tourism, the executive also pointed out that the demand for conservation units like parks conceded to the private initiative. Other strength of the Brazilian tourism, Nascimento points out, is the quality of infrastructure of large centers in the country.
“We have huge tourist potential with tourist service export taxes higher than the average in Latin America and the largest hotel market in South and Central America, at over 67 companies,” he pointed out.
According to Embratur’s president, around 14,000 Arabs visit Brazil every year. The number has been encourage by new initiatives. “We also work towards creating the first halal destination in Latin America with the city of Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, thus opening new possibilities of adapting the Brazilian chain,” he said.
On the other hand, Brazilians have increasingly sought countries like the UAE as their destinations. Brazil is among the countries that send the most travelers to Dubai, and so we want Brazil to be an increasingly common destination for the Arab people,” he said
