São Paulo – The US dollar slid 1.04% this Friday (4) to BRL 3.715, its lowest price since November 1, 2018. The United States currency shed 4.15% during the week – it depreciated for the third week on end.
The dollar, which had gained throughout the day, was caused to drop by a statement from Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell: “We are always prepared to shift the stance of policy and to shift it significantly if necessary,” Reuters quoted him as saying.
Powell also said the US monetary authority will be “sensitive to the downside risks the market is pricing in,” despite the good economic scenario, and will be patient regarding the monetary policy for this year.
