Dubai – Traffic in Dubai International Airport (DXB) reached 89.15 million passengers last year, with a 1% increase compared to 2017. It was the world’s leader for international passengers for the fifth year running, according to information from the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
According to information from Dubai Airports, the airport was able to exceed 8 million passengers per month twice over 2018 in July and August, making the latter the busiest month in DXB’s history.
Top destination countries were India, Saudi Arabia, and United Kingdom. WAM also named United States, China and Russia. Top destination cities were London, Mumbai and Kuwait.
Eastern Europe was the fastest growing region, followed by Commonwealth of Independent States, and Africa.
Flight movements for the year remained almost flat at 408,251 down by 0.3% compared to 2017. The average number of customers per flight, however, grewing slightly to 226, up by 1.3% annually.
A total of 2.64 million tons of airfreight was handled at DXB, down by 0.5% compared to 2017.
