Dubai – Foreign trade of food items in Dubai, UAE reached AED 44.24 billion in the first half of this year, the equivalent of USD 12 billion. Imports came out to AED 27.68 billion (USD 7.5 billion), with exports amounting to AED 7.71 billion (USD 2.1 billion) and re-exports at AED 8.84 billion (USD 2.4 billion), Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported, quoting Dubai Customs numbers.
Top-selling food products were rice, milk, sugar, nuts and chocolate. Dubai’s number one trading partner was India, followed by Iraq, the United States and Oman. “Promoting foreign trade to support the national economy is a priority for us,” WAM quoted Dubai Customs statistics department Nassim Al Mehari as saying.
