São Paulo – The ninth Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) has kicked off Last Thursday (5) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event brings together movie, comics, game and entertainment fans int the Gulf region. Dubai Media Office director general Mona Al Marri opened the event that runs until March 7 in Dubai World Trade Centre.
This year MEFCC will feature meeting with celebrities, live performances, cosplays, games, interactive workshops, limited edition of merchandises, and special screenings, everything related to comics, movies, anime, manga, and other pop culture outlets.
Film lovers will have the opportunity to meet Disney’s Aladdin, Egyptian actor Mena Massoud; Carice van Houten, who played Melisandre in Game of Thrones; John Rhys-Davies, who portrayed Gimli in the Lord of Rings; and Joseph David-Jones, known for his roles in American TV dramas Nashvile and Arrow; as well as other artists. Over the weekend, each celebrity will participate in live interviews on the main stage, as well as signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.
On Friday and Saturday, visitors and fans will have the unique chance to watch the first five minutes of the anticipated Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, a Japanese animation feature film screened in MEFCC before hitting theaters later this year, together with the first screening of Disney-Pixar’s film based on the manga Onward, Tower of God by Crunchyroll, as well as the screening of the Oscar winning movie Parasite directed by Bong Joon-Ho.
Individual ticket prices range from AED 160 to 350 (USD 44-95).
