São Paulo – Applications for e-visas for Brazil from Australia, Canada, the United States and Japan increased by 48.2% in February and March from a year ago, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Over 44,000 visas were issued over the two-month period.
The Ministry of Tourism said this Tuesday (3) that the hike stems from the introduction of e-visas, with speeds up and streamlines issuance to citizens from the countries at hand. E-visas made up 72.8% of total visas issued in February and March, with the bulk of applications coming from the United States, followed by Australia, Canada and Japan.
