Rio de Janeiro – The Economic Uncertainty Indicator from think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) was down 5.9 in August from July to 130.1 on a 0-200 scale.
This is the second straight month-on-month drop for the indicator, although it has now shed roughly half of the hike it had seen from April to June as a result of the political crisis that broke out on May 17, FGV said.
Despite having gone down for two months, the indicator is still too high, and could mean Brazilian consumers are wary of both investing and making purchases.
