São Paulo – The Egyptian minister of supplies and internal trade Ali Moselhi said earlier this week that the second phase of the revision of the food-subsidy system database will go through the second phase of the revision.
The ration-card holder is entitled to foodstuffs to the value of EGP 50 (USD 2.80) free of charge each month from government cooperatives in addition to five loaves of subsidized bread a day at USD 0.50 (USD 0.2) per loaf. The life cost in Egypt is very low.
Families that send a child to an international school costing more than EGP 30,000 (USD 1,700) per year or own a car produced after 2014 will be eliminated from the system, according to the criteria. If the monthly electricity consumption of a family is over 650 KW or if they have a mobile-phone bill over EGP 800 (USD 45.5) per month, they will also lose their cards. However, they may go back to the system if they prove they need subsidy.
