São Paulo – Two residential buildings by developer and construction company Cyrela in São Paulo have Egyptian crystal chandeliers in the foyer. Other projects that the company is carrying out throughout Brazil will also have large lamps originating in the Arab country. The company responsible for the supply is Crystal Asfour Brasil, Brazilian arm of the Egyptian crystal and crystal products manufacturer Asfour Crystal, which has been gaining a foothold in the domestic real estate development market.
According to CEO and president of Crystal Asfour Brasil, Mohammed Darwich, the company did the decorative lighting project for the hall and other spaces in residential buildings Cyrela On the Parc by Yoo, in the Moema neighborhood, and Glass Art by Yoo, in Perdizes, both owned by Cyrela. Darwich believes the construction company’s projects are in tune with Asfour. “Much more than an apartment or a house, they deliver an experience to customers, so it really fit our profile,” he told ANBA.
In addition to these two, Asfour will be supplying new Cyrela developments, including outside São Paulo, and has already done decorative lighting projects for other construction companies in the domestic market and other Latin American markets, such as Colombia and Chile. Darwich found a segment with good prospects for Egyptian crystal chandeliers in the region’s real estate sector. “It’s a very needy market,” he says.
He says that being in this market doesn’t just mean supplying chandeliers, but also designing all decorative lighting and carrying out the project. The businessman says the chandelier is handmade and hung from the ceiling so that it appears to be floating, without cables showing. “You look up at the ceiling and just see the crystals floating,” he says. The labor to do the installation needs to be specialized and of high quality.
Darwich also does technical lighting projects for real estate developments in Brazil. Today he operates in the segment with Chinese suppliers, but intends to enter the field more strongly and bring lighting products from Egypt to the domestic market. While decorative lighting is visible and helps to beautify the room, with the use of objects such as chandeliers or lampshades, technical lighting reaches the room in general, with lamps that are not always visible.
Asfour in Brazil
Darwich’s history with Asfour began in 2016, when the businessman started selling the brand’s products in Brazil. Asfour is an Egyptian company with international presence that produces everything from crystal pieces to finished products such as chandeliers, ceiling, wall, floor and table luminaires, as well as decorative objects and crystal gifts. Darwich, who is Egyptian, now sells items in Latin America, and in addition to the crystal business, has a travel agency in Brazil, EGP Viagens.
The businessman has a Crystal Star store in São Paulo, where you can find Asfour and Tiara products, the latter a brand acquired by the Egyptian group. In addition to selling items in the physical store and supplying them tailor-made for both real estate projects and other segments, such as gifts, products are sold on marketplaces. Darwich says there is a huge online demand for crystal balls for Feng Shui. “We’re always among the best sellers, we’ve become a giant in this niche,” states the businessman.
