São Paulo – Egyptian congressman Hafez Omran visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) headquarters in São Paulo this Friday (2) morning. He was received by the entity’s president, Osmar Chohfi, secretary-general and CEO, Tamer Mansour, and director of Institutional Relations, Fernanda Baltazar. This was his first visit to Brazil.
At a meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen ties between the countries, which have been improving since the Mercosur-Egypt free trade agreement came into force. They also spoke on the importance of diversifying the trade basket and expanding reciprocal investments. “Egypt is an essential political and economic partner for Brazil and one of our foremost trade partners among the Arab countries. We have a clear vision the potentialities between countries are many and diversified,” said Chohfi.
Omran is a member of the Egyptian Parliamentary Industry Commission and is in the country to amplify relations with Brazil. He thanked the reception and invited Chohfi to attend a meeting in Egypt during the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 27), to be held from November 6 to 18 in Sharm El Sheikh. On the occasion, they intend to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the parties.
