São Paulo – Egypt’s International Furniture Trade Fair (Furnex) wants to take Brazilian furniture importers to its 11th edition, scheduled for February 2 to 5 of next year in Cairo. The organizers will pay the expenses of selected buyers that are interested in visiting the event. Registration can be made until the end of the month at Egypt’s trade and economic office in the city of São Paulo.
“We are looking for importers and distributors to visit the fair. They will receive air tickets, lodging, will attend meetings with Egyptian companies and we can even arrange visits to plants”, explains Mohamed Elkhatib, Egypt’s trade consul in São Paulo.
All manufacturers exhibiting in the fair are from Egypt and, according to the diplomat, Furnex is the furniture sector’s main fair in the country and also in the African continent. This year’s edition had 145 exhibitors and welcomed more than 40,000 visitors.
Brazilian importers and distributors interested in visiting the fair should contact Egypt’s trade office via email at emb.egito@terra.com.br or via phone at +55 (11) 3287-7055 and +55 (11) 3284-8184.
“The consulate [trade office] will make the initial selection [of potential visitors]. We will check the profiles, see how much they import and from where. After that, we will send the approved profiles to the fair’s organizers”, explains Elkhatib.
Furnex is organized by the Egyptian Furniture Export Council and the Egyptian Exporters Association. “There’s great potential [in the event] for Brazilian companies to strike deals with Egypt”, says the consul.
