São Paulo – At least one company that participated in the business roundtables organized at medical equipment fair Hospitalar, in São Paulo, should place orders from Brazilian manufacturers soon. The Business Development manager of the Cairo-based Pan Spec trading company, Mahmoud Fouad, guarantees: "Let us return to Egypt, assess our needs and import Brazilian products. The quality of equipment is as good as that of the Europeans and the price compares to that of the Chinese product, but it is a much better product," he said on Thursday (23), at the fair.
Pan Spec is one of 22 companies from 18 countries brought to Brazil by the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Articles and Equipment (Abimo) to participate in business roundtables. Company representatives came from Angola, Cyprus, Colombia, Spain, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Uruguay, Mexico and Uganda.
Representatives of Saudi companies Al Ewan Medical Company and Al Husn Emirat Medical are also present. From Iraq, the guest buyers come from United Horizon and, from Egypt, comes Pan Spec.
Fouad and the Pan Spec general manager, Hamid Hassanin, already do business with suppliers in the United States and Argentina, but had never visited Brazil. "We had never come because we have never had a chance, but we will certainly be back often from now on, as we are going to buy products here. Brazilians should invest more in the region, as we are the largest market in the world in this sector. We have great demand for medical equipment," he said.
Pan Spec imports and distributes products in countries in the region, including Libya, Sudan, Palestine and Saudi Arabia. In this visit to the country, they sought neonatal incubators, defibrillators, breathers, phototherapy equipment, infusion pumps, ventilation devices and equipment for patient monitoring.
Opportunities
The export manager of neonatal equipment manufacturer Fanem, Jose Flosi, met with Iraqi visitors, company distributors in the region, and with the Egyptians of Pan Spec. "Countries in the Middle East and North Africa are investing in the construction of medical facilities. That is what we see in Oman, Abu Dhabi [the United Arab Emirates] and Qatar. The trend is to do more business in the region," he said.
The business intelligence coordinator at Abimo, Katherine Guimarães, said that the good performance obtained with this business roundtable encourages the institution to develop more business opportunities with foreign companies. "The event promoted over 1,400 meetings between the companies invited and 64 Brazilian organisations. Contacts were effective and will certainly result in business this year," he said.
