Brasília – The Ministry of Labor issued an enactment that regulates the procedures for the issuance of work permits to immigrants, according to the text published by the Federal Official Gazette.
The ordinance determines that the employment cards must be issued within 15 days, at the most, counting from the date in which the requirement was first made. The validity period of the document varies from one to nine years, according to the status of the immigrant living in Brazil.
The longest period of nine years applies, among other cases, to immigrants with living permits as refugees, stateless or political refugee. They will have their document issued after submitting their National Migration Registry.
Also allowed to require the permit are the ones with an authorization for temporary residency or a residency authorization for family re-union; those with a residency authorization for employment, among other cases.
