São Paulo – The Smart City Session will take place on Tuesday (8) and Wednesday (9) and is expected to bring together 10,000 people online. The discussions will be about cities and the solutions for them in the post-COVID-19 pandemic world. The talks will address four main themes, which are happiness and well-being, the legacy of the pandemic, resilience of urban space, and governance and economics.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) supports the Smart City Session, and those interested in participating can get a 20% discount by using the code ccab_csc20.
The event is one online action held due to the cancellation of the Smart City Expo Curitiba 2020, originally scheduled to take place last March in the capital of Paraná but postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19. The exhibition is backed by the trade fair institution Fira Barcelona, which hosts the Smart City Expo World Congress, and held by iCities, a company that works with smart solutions for cities.
The Smart City Session will feature experts speaking about the pandemic crisis and how to plan for 2021, as well as discussion rooms with guests, business networking actions, matchmaking sessions and B2Bs. The 2019 Smart City Expo Curitiba brought together 7,000 participants, and 2018’s 5,000.
The keynotes of the online event will be the expert in smart cities Renato de Castro, a member of the board of directors of Leading Cities in Boston and senior advisor at the International Telecommunication Union, among other positions. Also speaking will be Ricky Ribeiro, a member of the Corporate Sustainability team of the company Ernst & Young, who due to a degenerative neurological disease, communicates through an optical reader that interprets the movements of the pupil.
In addition to the Smart City Session, iCities has hosted webinars on smart cities and online B2Bs throughout the year. The company has launched the course Training Expert in Smart Cities, which has students across the entire country, including managers and public servants, as well as businesspeople and self-employed professionals.
